There’s a character named Noonan in the first short story of Joe Hill’s 20th Century Ghosts (Best New Horror)!

Maybe it’s a common name, but still, one cannot simply not think about King’s Noonan in Bag of Bones!

He also mentions Carrie at some point.

It made me happy. That is all.

The short story Throttle was a success, so I figured I’d try some Joe Hill now. It’s an anthology of short stories, and so far I’ve only read the first one but it’s really troubling and uncomfortable, but in a Stephen King way, a great way!

Another advantage of Hill working with his dad on the story: “If I fluff up the motorcycle parts, he’ll fix it. This is a guy who’s probably put in 20,000 miles on his Harley.”
King is an avid fan of “hogs” and the motorcycle-gang drama Sons of Anarchy. That’s still on Hill’s to-watch list — he has never seen an episode, not even the one his dad guest-starred on — and he owns a Triumph Bonneville, a bike on which he has ridden only a couple of thousand miles.
The two had a chance to go riding together one day recently and “buzzed around” southern Maine, Hill says. “We got back and my dad said, ‘That is a pretty nice bike even if it sounds like a sewing machine.’ Yeah, he’s a Harley snob.”

Hill was asked to contribute a prose story to the 2009 tribute anthology He Is Legend, which featured writers’ takes on their favorite Matheson works, and he immediately thought of Duel and wanted to do something with his father.
“We shared that movie together. That was something that mattered intensely to both of us,” Hill says.
“He had an idea about a motorcycle gang and a trucker who’s following them, and it looked like pure action from beginning to end,” King recalls. “I said, ‘Let’s do it, let’s step on it.’ “
The two finished the story in about a week, each rewriting the other’s chunks of prose, “and it all blended together into one smooth creamy us milkshake,” Hill says.

After Mile 81, which I recommend because it’s a story about another evil car, not as good as From a Buick 8, because shorter, but a good read anyway, I continue with e-books from Stephen King. And here he wrote with his son, Joe Hill.

Time to get back to Sai King. I’m waiting for a book to be returned to the library so I can read it with a friend, so meanwhile I’ll just read some short stories like this one.
Note to self: Look on your e-reader if you have it before turning the computer off, thankee sai.
